As someone who is tired of hearing the same sounds over and over again, Bahrain-based musician Cytonic Rhymes has taken it upon himself to change the status quo. He comes through with a style of music that is eclectic and prolific, and one that is particularly hard to place since it involves an amalgamation of a plethora of unique styles and genres from synthwave, hip hop, emo, rock, pop, metal, and others. Giving it that unique and distinct Arabian stamp, he has been able to build a brand that he is happy to call authentically his.
His music is inspired by real-life happenings, and more than anything, some of the deep themes revolve around mental health, heartbreak, and depression as he tries to use his music to create that deep level of connection with the listener.
The track “Galaxy Express” is some of the most authentic music I have listened to lately; this is the kind of masterpiece that is incredibly hard to pin down and really highlights Rhymes’ technical versatility and phenomenal artistic range.
From the start all the way to the end, this track gave me chills and goosebumps as I relished each and every second of that matchless performance. There is a bit of everything in this banger, with an identifiable melodic emo rap to it and a very deep lyrical theme about mental health at its core.
This track speaks directly to its listener—sometimes we get caught up in our own minds and it is difficult to free ourselves, fighting demons we know nothing of and being in a confusing mental state without necessarily feeling understood.
The music video is just as powerful as the music itself and really supplements this banger perfectly, both in symbolism and storyline. “Galaxy Express” is the sort of music to help you feel less alone and more understood!
