Spiritually immersive. The France based, independent Brazilian musician, Dan Szyller has employed his musical crafts to create a masterpiece of a debut album by the name “Celestial Immigrant”. This 7 song album has speaks to its creators musical ingenuity as it seeks to make its own mark in today’s musical landscape.
“The Celestial Immigrant” is the work of France-based electric guitarist, Dan Szyller. And in it is hidden a range of talent and artistic impression that serves to do what music once did: act as a portal into a hitherto forgotten world of refined electric acoustic. Szyller can be seen to paint a picture of his own life through lyrics that speak of the search for a seeming nirvana through space: “The celestial immigrant is on his way, in the Milky Way. Will he ever make it? “. The album also seems to portray the aspect of sacrifice in life through songs such as “King’s Hall” in the album. A reflection of the life that out own artist went through as he migrated from country to country throughout his childhood before settling in France.
For the 6 month musical project involving the writing and recording of the album, which led to it’s release on 20th July 2022, Dan Szyller played guitar and sang vocals, Fabien Pilard played additional guitars, bass, keyboards and sang backup, and Meriem Rezik played drums. Szyller’s vocals, further heightened by the vibrant soundscapes set in the album, work to carry the listener alongside a spiritual journey that is steeped in soul searching and eventual breakthrough. The guitars enable Szyller to produce a dynamic theme that evolves from track to track, empowering the artist to push the boundaries of his music with his debut album. It leaves one with a deep feeling of wonder while still setting the tone for meaningful introspection.
Dan Szyller’s love and creation of music leading to this album, draws inspiration from some of his favorite bands like The Doors, Iron Maiden, King Crimson and Pink Floyd. These influences are readily apparent on the opening title track “The Celestial Immigrant”. The debut of this album marks the entrance onto the musical landscape, an artist that has shown the capacity to bear his soul through his music and use his music as a canvas to paint his life’s story. Szyller himself has stated that “It’s the story of many travels I have made and places I have been in my life, mostly as an immigrant.”
If all I’ve managed to arouse in you is skepticism, then feel free to check out “The Celestial Immigrant” for yourself. But if it’s worth anything, he appears to be on the verge of hitting 10,000 listeners on Spotify soon. Keep churning out ‘em out, Dan. Long live rock 🤘🤘🏾
