Tony Hernandez is proud to be one of the best talents to ever emerge from New Jersey. He has amassed numerous accolades as a singer and guitarist, which speak volumes about his incredible musicianship and put him in a lane of his own. A dynamic performer that prides himself on his knack for transcending stylistic barriers, Hernandez combines impeccable vocal versatility and artistry with a gift of getting at the heart of his songs, transitioning seamlessly between powerhouse delivery and lyrical sound on the grand guitar and keyboard. He is, as many would say, a generational artist with so much to offer.
Let’s take a dive into his first ever album, “Amor Eterno” which consists of 10 tracks, spanning 46 minutes and 14 seconds. This album was recorded in 1999, and if you listen to it today, you will actually appreciate the value of timeless music. There is no denying that it is not perfect, nothing ever is, but considering the time it was created and how perfectly it can fit in this world, you have to give it up to Hernandez’s musical ingenuity.
Any listener who appreciates that soulful vibe to rock music will revel in the single “Caridad” that has such an affectingly graceful production. If you love some gentle mellowness, then perhaps the track “Yo Me Enamore de Ti” wouldn’t be a bad fit for you. If you love that sonic theatricality, I’d recommend the song “Las Mujeres de Mi Vida” which has a hauntingly deep and evocative stringed instrument, elevating its emotional impact.
The title track “Amor Eterno” is a memorable ballad that translates to “Eternal Love.” It is the kind of music that is simple yet ingenious in its execution. The emotional depth of the heartwarming lyrics has been attractively complemented by the dexterous execution of the music, making it a bona fide standout in Latin rhythms and rock.
The song “Tu No Me Perdones” has an understated elegance with some cinematic keys and an overall dulcet foundation that adds to its emotional appeal.
There is so much on offer throughout this album, which I’d recommend listening to from the top to the bottom in order to really revel in the experience.
Tony Hernandez is looking to remix it using modern sound and give it that futuristic appeal before re-releasing it. For now, you get to enjoy something as nostalgic as it is relevant—made in the 90s with extra love!
